An exhibition "The Red Book" will be on show in the Book Museum since May 13. The main exhibit will be an art book by young Belarusian artists Marina Zhvirblia and Fiodar Shurmeleu.

The main goal of this publishing project is to draw attention to the problems of ecology and the unconscious consumption of natural resources. The book includes images of ten endangered animals from different parts of our planet. The reason for the disappearance of a particular species is indicated next to each illustration.

The authors of the publication tried to reveal their idea, using a minimum of visual means: the images are simply engraved on white paper. The images of animals on the pages of the book are barely visible and seem to dissolve. A similar artistic technique is used for texts under illustrations: at the end of a sentence, the letters brighten and one gets the impression that the lines disappear from the page.

The exposition will also feature sheet engravings with engraved images of animals and clichés from which the art edition was printed.

The exhibition "The Red Book" aims to encourage viewers and readers to think about the consequences of human's careless attitude to nature.

The exhibition will be on show in the Book Museum (room 347) until August 13, 2021.
The end date is subject to change.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the working hours of the Book Museum.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
