From January 1 to February 28, the Musical and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (No 305) hosts the anniversary exhibition "Songs for All Hearts", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Russian composer, People's Artist of the USSR Eduard Savelievich Kolmanovsky.

The work of Eduard Kolmanovsky is well known to residents of the former Soviet Union. "I love you, life”, “Black and White”, “The river runs”, “You're talking to me about love” are just a few of his most famous works. The composer's repertoire includes more than 200 songs based on the poems of Ye. Evtushenko, M. Matusovsky, K. Vanshenkin, I. Shaferan, M. Tanich and other poets. The ability to talk about the sublime simply, without excessive pathetic, a combination of folk music traditions with features of chamber-romance style, soft melodism characterize the songs of Eduard Savelievich.

In addition to songs, E. Kolmanovsky wrote music for dramatic performances ("Twelfth Night" by W. Shakespeare, "The Convent" by V. Dykhovichny, "The Naked King" by E. Schwartz), musical comedies, films ("Big Change", "For Family Reasons"), cartoons, radio plays. In addition, he is the author of plays for pop orchestra, four suites, a concerto for viola, romances to the words of M. Lermontov, A. Pushkin, R. Burns.

The exhibition presents musical editions of works by Eduard Kolmanovsky: song collections, the musical fairy tale “Snow White”, the suite from the music to the comedy by W. Shakespeare “Twelfth Night, or Whatever You Want”, the concert overture for symphony orchestra “The Day Begins” and others.

The exhibition is complemented by music records and CDs, as well as books and articles from periodicals about the composer's life and work.

The quest tour "The road of the Great Victory"

On May 15, on the International Family Day, the National Library of Belarus was visited by members of the Belarusian Association of parents with many children in the Pervomaisky district of Minsk. They took part in the quest tour "The road of the Great Victory", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
