From March 17, 2008, to April 15, 2008, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition timed to the 60-th anniversary of Gennady Pashkov, the Belarusian poet, translator, journalist, Corresponding Member of the International Slavonic Academy of sciences, education, arts, and culture (1996), laureate of Lenin Komsomol of Belarus Prize (1980), and The Republic of Belarus State Prize (1998).
Works by Gennady Pashkov are remarkable for their public spirit, philosophy, associativity, and rich language and images. Works by the author are full of an exquisite lyricism, love of people and nature, and at the same time anxiety about the future, history, culture, and nature of Belarus, and reflection about life and the meaning of life.
In the section "A Clear Voice" are displayed works by Gennady Pashkov published between 1975 and 1999: collected poetry, collected stories, and children’s books.
At the exposition are displayed works by Gennady Pashkov published in periodicals and collected works by various authors.
Gennady Pashkov is the editor-in-chief of “Belorusskaya Entsiklopedia” publishing house and co-author of encyclopedias and reference books published by this establishment. In a particular section of the exhibition are displayed the following publications by “Belorusskaya Entsiklopedia” publishing house: “Belarusian Encyclopedia” in 18 volumes (1996-2004), “Encyclopedia of the History of Belarus” in 6 volumes (1993-2003), encyclopedia “The great Duchy of Lithuania” in 2 volumes (2005-2006), “Belarusian Theatre” in 2 volumes (2002-2003), “Belarusian Folklore” in 2 volumes (2005-2006), and others.
In a particular section of the exhibition are displayed works by Azerbaijan, Armenian, Lettish, Tajik, and Ukrainian poets translated by Gennady Pashkov into Belarusian language.
The section “The Happiness of Daybreak Roads” acquaints visitors with the author’s life and career.
