On August 2nd, the library hosted participants of the Commonwealth Warrior international military-professional skills competition, which has been widely covered in the CIS information space.


The military men from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia made a familiarizing tour to the library including a visit to the Book Museum and the observation deck. During the informative event the guests appreciated the unusual architecture and interior design, learned the history of the Belarusian book-printing and admired the panorama of the city from the top of one of the tallest buildings in Minsk.

According to the organizers of the competition, the National Library is not only a visiting card of the Republic of Belarus, but also a huge multi-functional center which combines high technologies, cutting-edge design and unique architecture.

At the end of the meeting the guests – military men from Kazakhstan – presented a souvenir for the Book Museum.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
