The book is calling friends

On 23 March, held the Open doors day was held in the Mogilev Regional Library named after Lenin as part of the Week of book for children and young adults “The book is calling friends”.

The action was timed to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing, the 750th anniversary of Mogilev and the Year of Science. Numerous events contributed to the formation and promotion of a positive image of the library.

The opening ceremony, which was vivid, interesting and rich in events, was attended by children’s creative teams of Mogilev. Director of the Mogilev Regional Library named after Lenin Ilona Sorokina presented to young users diplomas of “The best reader 2016”.

Head of section of the Book science department of the National Library of Belarus Tatiana Sapiego held a cultural and educative lesson for children “Francysk Skaryna, our famous printing pioneer”.

On the same day, a number of activities took place: a book marathon “Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas read by their compatriots” (poets and students from Mogilev reading Kupala and Kolas), an information event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Belarusian writer Alies Adamovich etc.

• “The name known in centuries” (Francysk Skaryna);
• “The singers of the Motherland” (to the 135th anniversary of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas).

to the 750th anniversary of Mogilev:

• “The city of warriors, patriots and workers”;
• “The city rushing to tomorrow” (history, present day and prospects);
• “Keeping the great heritage” (to the 150th anniversary of the Mogilev Regional Museum of Local History named after E. Romanov);
• “The beauty of the simple things” (to the 35th anniversary of the Mogilev Art Museum of V. Byalynitsky-Birulia);
• works of the cycle “The city of masters”.

to the Year of Science:

• ”From insane ideas to great discoveries": publications about the Nobel Prize and its laureates, the history of the creation of some devices, machines and items, the history of children’s inventions used now (protective headphones from the cold, fruit ice, Braille, plasticine, magnetic stickers);
• "Driving the time machine": popular science books about the mysteries of great states, the secrets of the lives of people of the distant past, generals and kings, about rituals and traditions, attitude to food, etc ;
• "The light of learning books": editions of the ХІХ and the first half of the 20th centuries on various fields of science, books written by famous scientists and devoted to outstanding researchers, scientific books published on the territory of Belarus;
• "The Mogilev Region: the Pleiad of scientists”: the compatriots who, at different times, made a significant contribution to the development of scientific thought in various fields of knowledge.
