The book exhibition “History and traditions of Belarusian science”, dedicated to the Year of Science, has been opened in the Library (3rd floor, circular corridor) since March 24 till August 14.
The President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed on December 23, 2016 a Decree “On declaring 2017 the Year of Science”. The main aim of this decision is to enhance the role of science in accomplishment of tasks on social and economic development of the country, to create of favorable conditions for preservation and development of scientific potential, to form the international image of Belarus as a country with the high level of intellectual and human capital.
A high intellectual potential of our nation is approved by the world community. Thanks to talents and creative initiative of the best representatives of Belarusian people, The Academy of Sciences was created on October 19, 1928. Today the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the main scientific centre of our country and it continues the best traditions of research development for good of social and economic, spiritual and cultural progress of Belarusian people.
The book exhibition “History and traditions of Belarusian science” presents nearly 300 documents. The exposition consists of the following sections:
- From the history of Belarusian science.
- People of Belarusian science.
- Scientific institutions and enterprises of the Republic of Belarus.
- Youth in science.
- Belarusian science on the way to future.
Editions presented in the section “From the history of Belarusian science” analyze the present state and history of science development in our country, dynamics of international cooperation of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. There’s also historical and documentary chronicle of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus since 1928 till 2008, which reflects main changes in scientific and organizational structure of the Academy of sciences, contains information about awards and important achievements of Belarusian scientists.
The section “People of Belarusian science” includes books about life and activities of outstanding scientists who made contributions to organization and development of science in our country. Books of this series contain personal photos, recollections of contemporaries, colleagues, students and relatives about famous scientists who worked in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for many years.
The section “Scientific institutions and enterprises of the Republic of Belarus” contains fundamental editions of the National Academy of Sciences about leading institutes, scientific manufacturing enterprises and its scientific research.
