On May 3, the State Museum of the History of Theatrical and Musical Culture of the Republic of Belarus hosted a round table, dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of composer Stanislaw Moniuszko. As part of the event, the National Library’s online project Stanislaw Moniuszko. Romantic Musician from Minsk Province was presented

The round table was supported by the Presidential grant in science, education, health and culture, and held under the patronage of the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO.

The round table was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Belarus A. Michalski; director of the Polish Institute in Minsk T. Karpinski; Honored Worker of Culture, art director of the Belarussian Chapel V. Skorobogatov; art director of the trio Vytoki A. Frolov; chairman of the ICOM association T. Bembel; musicologist V. Savitskaya; chairman of the Belarusian Union of Artists R. Sitnitsa; musicologist S. Nemogay; director of the Belarusian Culture Fund T. Struzhetsky; Moniuszko scholar and translator Y. Yanushkevich; director of Cherven regional museum A. Zabaronok.

During the event, leading bibliographer of the Information and Analytical Activity Department of the National Library of Belarus Yulia Amosova introduced the attendees to the project Stanislaw Moniuszko. Romantic Musician from Minsk Province. This is a free public resource for exploring the life and artistic legacy of the famous composer, staging of his works in Belarus, as well as honoring his memory in Belarus.

The online project includes comprehensive bibliographical, factual, graphic and audiovisual information from the collections of the National Library. Digitized sheet music and books, published in the 19th century, as well as the records of Moniuszko’s music, performed by contemporary musicians, are available to users.

The project also features rare photographs from the collections of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the State Museum of the History of Theatrical and Musical Culture of the of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Academy of Music and the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
