The opening of the visual information project "Forest Song", prepared by the National Library of Belarus and the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, took place on November 12 in the framework of the "Infolib Uzbekistan – 2021" National Information and Library Week in Tashkent and commemorated the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
The project aims to bring the testimony of the unparalleled exploits of the Soviet people and the strength of spirit of the partisans to a wider audience. The exhibition is displayed on 10 banners and offers an insight into the history of the Belarusian partisan movement through documents of that time: leaflets, propaganda posters, newspapers, photographs, narrative sketches, excerpts from stories, poems and songs.
The participants were welcomed by Mr Leonid Marinich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan and Ms Umida Teshaboyeva, Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.
Mr Aliaksandr Salauiou, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Belarus, delivered a multimedia presentation and spoke about the heroic contribution of the Uzbek people to the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
