On 24 January, National Library will host a meeting with the winners of the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus to workers of arts and culture 2016.


On the eve of New Year and Christmas holidays, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented the high awards to Belarusians who had made significant contributions to the development of national culture.

The annual meeting with the winners at the National Library of Belarus has become a good tradition.

The winners’ names were announced on the stage of the Palace of the Republic during a ceremony on Jan. 10, 2017. Raisa Romanenya, who for over 30 years has headed the studio of arts and crafts "The Belarusian souvenir" (the Center of Children and Youth of the Soligorsk region) is among the laureates. She awarded the prize for her significant contribution to the revival and preservation of folk traditions and involving children and young adults into the national culture.

Guests of the event will be able to meet with the staff of the Minsk Children's Music School of Arts named after Eugene Glebov, who also won the prestigious award. The high award has marked their significant contribution to the preservation and development of national culture and music.

The meeting starts at 4 p.m. in the gallery “Rakurs” (2nd floor).

The National Library of Belarus has prepared an illustrated book exhibition “Big talent, big work, big heart”. The exposition includes books, catalogs, booklets, articles form periodicals, graphic documents from the library’s funds – all about the winners 2016!

The exhibition will run till 28 February, 2017, in the circular corridor on the 2nd floor.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
