On April 9th, the National Library hosts a round table “Francysk Skaryna and Primoz Trubar, the Slavic first printers”. All people interested are invited to attend the meeting.


The round table is dedicated to known historical educators of Belarus and Slovenia Francysk Skaryna and Primoz Trubar, and also to Belarusian-Slovenian-German cultural contacts.

Researchers from Belarus and Germany will take part in the meeting. Prof., Doctor Anton Schindling and Prof., Doctor Ellen Widder of the faculty of philosophy at the Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen are guests of honor at the round table.

Francysk Skaryna and Primoz Trubar are the outstanding figures of national cultures who had kept and developed the Belarusian and the Slovenian languages. The culmination of their work is the foundation of national book publishing developing traditions of German first printers. For them, the printed book was an inexhaustible opportunity for people’s spiritual enlightenment, education of lofty Christian, moral and civil qualities.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
