The National Library of Belarus continues the series of anniversary book exhibitions dedicated to lives and creative careers of outstanding masters of artistic expression.


In the second half of the year, from 17 July to 31 December, readers and visitors can see the exhibition "Unsaid, great, wonderful..." dedicated to the 200th anniversary from the date of the birth of Mikhail Lermontov (1814–1841).

In the first half of the year, as part of the anniversary book exhibitions "Writers’ anniversaries" there have been organized the following exhibitions:

  • "The King of Poets": to the 450th anniversary from the date of the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare (1564–1616) – from 22 January to 31 December;
  • "To the glory of our glorious Ukraine": to the 200th anniversary from the date of the Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko (1814–1861) – from 22 January to 9 July.

The exhibitions are placed on the 3rd floor of the circular corridor.

Reading lists to the presented exhibitions are available in the reading rooms on any user workbench.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
