From 22 July to 31 August, an exhibition "Caring of Belarusian drama" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the literary critic S. Lavshuk runs in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205).
In every field of scientific activity there are people who at every turn of their research ideas are firmly and consistently held once elected strategic direction in their creative work. The member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, knight of the F. Skorina Order Stepan Lavshuk can be definitely numbered among these people. He holds the leading position in a small coterie of critics and literary scholars interested in exploring the dramatic genre.
The anniversary exhibition consists of the author’s separately published works and numerous articles that have been published in scientific journals and encyclopedias, periodicals.
The first section of the exhibition "The painstaking researcher" contains books which have been the result of many years of his fruitful work. Among the most significant of them are Modern Belarusian Drama (1977), Thinking about the contemporary (1977), The First People’s Artist of the BSSR (1982), High Orbits of Citizenship (1984), The Formation of the Belarusian Soviet Drama (1984, 2002), Kondrat Krapiva and Belarusian Drama (1986, 2002), On the Dramatic Crossroads (1989).
The exhibition also includes documents written in the co-authorship with S. Lavshuk: History of Belarusian Soviet Literature (1977), Belarusian Literature and Issues of the Day (1978), History of Belarusian Soviet literature (in 2 volumes, 1981–1982), On the Threshold of 90 (1993), Essays on the History of the Belarusian-Russian Literary Relations (Vol. 2, 1994, Vol. 3, 1994, V. 4, 1995), History of Belarusian Literature, the 19th – the early 20th centuries (2nd ed., 1998), History of Belarusian literature of the 20th century (in 4 volumes, Vol. 1, 1999) and others.
S. Lavshuk also paid a great attention to textual work which has become an important and integral part of his scientific interests. This kind of activities is reflected in the section "Compiler. Editor. Reviewer". The scholar prepared and published the edition Prerevolutionary Belarusian Drama (1978), Collected Works of V. Golubok (1983), A. Makayonok (V. 1–5, 1987–1990), K. Krapiva (in 6 volumes, V.1–2, 1997), etc.
The exposition is ended with the section "The true creator" which contains materials on the jubilee’s biography and work.
