From September 01, 2007 to September 31, 2007, in the Visual Materials Reading Room (room 307) is open an exhibition "Witnesses of the Time" which presents Belarusian calendars from the NLB's collections.


The exhibition acquaints visitors with the history of national calendar from the beginning of the 19th century to the present. The exposition includes 255 calendars of various design, subject, and destination. It includes the following sections: "Books-calendars of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries", "Soviet books-calendars" (1917 - 1960), wall, desk, throw-over, block, pocket calendars, and diaries. The oldest calendar was published in 1819 in Vilnius.

We invite to the exhibition all who are interested in the history of Belarusian calendar.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
