From 3 January to 22 March, the exhibition "The synthesis of music, color and light", devoted to the 140th anniversary from the date of composer and pianist A.N. Skriabin’s birth (1872–1915), will be held in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305).
Alexander Skriabin is one of the greatest Russian composers at the end of 19th – beginning 20th centuries whose creativity influenced very much on the development of the world musical culture.
Emotional intensity, the range of images from inspired and ideal, subtle up to expressive and heroic are peculiar to his music. A.Skriabin, as a bright innovator in the field of expressive means, developed the idea of "a son of lumiere". For the first time in a musical practice he added into symphonic poem "Prometheus: The Poem of Fire" a special part for "clavier à lumières" (a line for a designation of a color on a light keyboard).
His 3rd symphony "The Divine Poem", "The Poem of Ecstasy", "Prometheus", numerous piano works in different genres (sonatas, preludes, poems, etudes, mazurkas), works for piano concerts belong to the best composer’s compositions.
One of A. Skriabin’s last plans was an unfulfilled work "Misterium" which should become a grandiose action – a symphony not only of sounds, but also of colors, aromas, movement and even sounding architecture.
The exhibition includes scores of noticed musical works, and also books and publications about the composer.
