From February 23, 2008, to March 25, 2008, in the Visual Materials Reading Room (room 307) is open an exhibition “The Magic of the Black Square” dedicated the 130th anniversary of Kazimir Malevich (1878–1935), the artist, one of the abstract art founders, and founder of suprematism.
Kazimir Malevich is one of the most straight-out innovators who founded new trends of the modern art. Kazimir Malevich is the world-famous artist, theorist of avant-gardism, and founder of a revolutionary artistic education.
Kazimir Malevich established a new conception of suprematist art based on traditions of realism of the 19-th century, modernism, impressionism, symbolism, neo-primitivism, cubism, and futuristic realism.
The exhibition reveals all the angles of Malevich art. Works by Kazimir Malevich – painting, graphics, architecture, stage scenery, arts and crafts, and poetry – fascinate with lucidity of colors and magic of lines.
The exhibition presents over 150 materials: albums, books, and articles.
The exposition will be interesting for all categories of users.
