The exhibition "The Great Duchy of Lithuania: the 770th foundation anniversary (circa 1240-е – 1795)” runs from September 24 up to October 31 at the Belarusian Literature Reading Room.
There are more than 400 documents dedicated to the Great Duchy of Lithuania on the exhibition shelving. The exposition begins with editions about the Great Duchy of Lithuania state-legal and executive system. Statements, statutes, metrics, privileges and other documents published in the time the Great Duchy of Lithuania are displayed. Also there are numerous scientific papers about the history, culture and spiritual life of the state. At the exhibition visitors will see the works by classic Belarusian authors V. Lastovsky, V. Ignatovsky, V. Picheta, M. Liubavsky, and also works by contemporary historians S. Rybchenko, E. Anischenko, A. Kravtsevich, A. Kotliarchuk, G. Saganovich, N. Ermalovich, V. Nosevich and others.
The section of the exhibition “Cities, towns and castles of the Great Duchy of Lithuania” includes documents about the historical heritage and the rich culture of ancient Belarusian cities.
The section “The famous figures of the Great Duchy of Lithuania” comprises scientific papers and monographs dedicated to the famous historical and cultural figures: Mindaug, Vitaut, Gedimin, F. Skorina, S. Budny, N Gusovsky and others.
A particular section of the exposition includes books about the Great Duchy of Lithuania by classic and contemporary authors: Y. Chechot, V. Korotkevich, V. Charopko, V. Orlov, L. Dayneko, O. Ipatova and others.
