From November 3rd, 2009, to December 10th, 2009, in National Library of Belarus (the second floor, circular passage) is open a subject exhibition “The Golden Rules of health”.


The editions displayed at the exhibition contain a set of necessary advices and useful recommendations prompting how to keep and strengthen health and to prolong youth.

The section “Psychology of health” opens the exposition. Authors of the presented books consider health as a complex, multivariate, social and cultural phenomenon and simultaneously as an integrating characteristic of the person reflecting the most significant aspects of their biological, social, psychological and spiritual life. Psychology of health is a new enough and intensively developing science synthesizing knowledge of the psychological reasons of health, methods and means of its preservation, strengthening and development.

In the section “Medicine for the soul” is presented the system of traditional Slavic healing including the whole complex of measures which help to diagnose and treat illnesses of both the soul and the body. The old Slavic healing system is an original system based on centuries-old experience of people. The section acquaints with numerous curing prays widely applied in the national medical practice as a cure for various diseases; there is presented information on wonder-working icons, their brief description and the current location, as well as on Christian saints who can cure illnesses. Issues of spiritual and physical perfection through a pray, fast and abstinence are considered.

The section “Classics of recovery” is a guidebook on techniques of recovery of the organism. There are presented author’s techniques by G. Malakhov, B.Bolotov, P. Ivanov, M. Norbekov, Y. Andreev, P. Bragg, H. Silva. There is the helpful information about rational and dietetic therapy, natural clarification of the organism, balneotherapy, respiratory gymnastics, curative properties of the bath, etc. Visitors can see the illustrated atlas of acupuncture (biologically active points of the body) and a detailed manual on all kinds of massage.

Ancient Eastern philosophers considered that all illnesses and troubles of the person grow from the head and the soul, in other words from ideas, experiences, feelings, that often leads to disbalance of energies of the organism. Therefore Eastern techniques mean not only recovery of the organism, but also the certain philosophy and an appropriate lifestyle. The last section of the exposition acquaints with the best ancient salutary practices: feng shui, meditation and relaxation, mudras, zen, rejki, su jok, yoga, and cabbala.

Various encyclopedias, house directories, practical manuals on national medicine will help everyone to find their own "footpath" to health and longevity.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
