From September 22 to November 21, the Music and audiovisual documents reading room (305) will host an exhibition called "The One-Man Band" in honour of Conductor Aleksandr Anisimov, the Belarusian people's artist, who turns 75 this year.
Aleksandr Anisimov is one of Belarus’ most demanding conductors. Since 2001, he has served as the director of Belarus' State Symphony Orchestra, and he frequently collaborates with symphony and opera ensembles from West Europe, Russia, and the United States.
Alexander Anisimov has made important contributions to promoting contemporary Belarusian composers' music over the course of his creative work at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society and the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus. Many pieces by E. Glebov, D. Smolsky, S. Cortes, G. Gorelova, etc. were first performed by his group.
The orchestra is actively exploring new concert venues and formats under the direction of A. Anisimov. The symphonic cycles "Classics for All," "Country Symphony," and "Resurrection of Classics" are hugely popular with the Belarusian public, and guests from other countries praise the orchestra's high level of professionalism, extensive and varied repertoire, artistry of performance, and mobility.

Due to his "great personal contribution to establishing peace and harmony in society via music, for the implementation of major national and worldwide creative initiatives," Maestro Alexander Anisimov received the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2021.
The majority of the exposition is made up of Alexander Mikhailovich's numerous articles and interviews that have been published in periodicals. They are also complemented by picture images, audio recordings, and videos of the conductor and his orchestra performing the pieces.
