On September 20, a solemn ceremony to transfer Belarusian publications to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Hall of Knowledge was held in the city of Tashkent at the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan.
As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the "Diamond of Knowledge" and the international project "Belarus Today," the National Library of Belarus donated valuable fiction, scientific, and popular science publications, encyclopaedias, reference books, and photo albums.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich, Adviser to the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov, Director of the Center for People's Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Kabuljon Sabirov, Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi Umid Teshabayev, representatives of ministries and departments, experts and specialists of the Belarusian language and culture, students, creative intelligentsia, media representatives and participants of the Belarusian Cultural Center "Svitanak".
In an online speech to attendees, Aksana Knizhnikava, Director general of the National Library of Belarus, said: "The Belarus Today initiative significantly enhances friendly ties and fosters cross-cultural interaction between our nations. The collection of books will give the Uzbek reader a comprehensive picture of Belarus in all its facets, including its rich national customs, ages-old history, current way of life, and cultural achievements."
In order to improve the cultural and humanitarian collaboration between the SCO member states, representatives of the Hall of Knowledge thanked the Belarusian side for the books that had been donated and expressed optimism for continued close cooperation.
