“My Land Is My Inspiration: local literary studies in Belarus”, a subject exhibition, runs in the Belarusian literature room (205), from January 14 to February 26.
The generous Belarusian land has become a safe haven and source of strength not only for its natives, but for all who have been torn away from their native land and spent some time in here. Many parts of our country are associated with famous figures of culture and science, including writers.
Exploring the writer’s personality, you cannot ignore the role of the environment in which they were born and lived, as it affected their outlook on life and work. Literary study of local lore allows us to pass a maze of memory along with the writer, to see their lovely places and people, learn the legends and songs of their native land. Some of them became the prototypes of literary characters and stories. An important area of research is the study of the local press and publishing houses, ancient books and manuscripts, the region’s literary life in different historical periods, and honoring the memory of writers.
The exposition includes more than 100 documents and consists of seven sections, which deal with literary regional studies of Belarus as a whole and its regions.
The exhibition sections include poetry collections, literary anthologies, monographs and bibliographical materials, magazine articles, local folklore etc. The Literary Belarus series is also presented. Each issue combines poetry, prose and journalistic works of a single city or region of our country.
Enjoy your journey to the literary Belarus!
