From June 13 to August 13 the exhibition “Mozart from Champs-Élysées” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the French composer, theater conductor, cellist Jacques Offenbach is held in the Music and Audiovisual Documents reading room (305).

Jacques Offenbach (1819–1880) was one of the most talented composers of the 19th century. He only worked in a completely different genre than the composers of that period. It was a brilliant musical feuilletonist, satirist-buff, improviser, musical transformer and prestige, impeccably knowing the requirements and tastes of his audience, but at the same time able to preserve his own creative individuality.

Music composer impresses with simplicity and transparency. He avoided all that was tough. Not for nothing Offenbach was called "Mozart from Champs-Élysées", comparing with the great Austrian musician for the ease and elegance of style.

Offenbach is the ancestor of the operetta in France, this genre became the main thing in his work. The main part of the exhibition is occupied by a collection of notes by the composer, among which are numerous arrangements for various instruments, which indicate the popularity of the Offenbach's music. You will see it in the “Classics on Drums” collection, “From Bach to Offenbach” for bayan and accordion, “Music Album” for violin and piano etc.

The audio documents presented at the exhibition are interesting too: “Jacques Offenbach” from the “Golden Collection” series, the “Tales of Hoffmann” opera, the “Perikola” opera and others.

At the exhibition there are also books and articles from periodicals, which allows you to more fully explore the life and work of the French master.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
