From May 21, 2008, to June 10, 2008, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open an exhibition “Melody of Soul” dedicated to the 70-th anniversary of Vladimir Karizna, the Belarusian poet, laureate of the State Prize of Belarus, author of the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.
Vladimir Karizna is the eminent Belarusian cultural worker. He is the author of over 20 collected poetries including lyrics (over 200 works).
Poetry by Vladimir Karizna is full of patriotism, an exquisite lyricism, and spiritual warmth. Works by the poet are of different subjects: memory of the Great Patriotic War, bitter remembrance of his childhood at the time of war, love of the Fatherland, life and work, happiness, contemporary’s joy and daily routine, and beauty of human relationships. Many of works by Vladimir Karizna are inspired by folklore poetics.
At the exhibition are displayed collected poetry by the author published between 1963 and 2007.
Vladimir Karizna is a brilliant children’s poet. Being an expert on psychology, pedagogue and educator, he can communicate with children sincerely. The author’s works for children are of different genres: poetry, fairytales, counting-out rhymes, and riddles. At the exposition are displayed children’s books by the author published between 1975 and 2003.
Brilliant lyrics by Vladimir Karizna inspired eminent Belarusian composers: A. Bogatyrev, Y.Semenyako, I. Luchenok, E. Glebov, L. Zakhlevny, D. Smolsky, E. Khanok, E. Zaritsky, V.Budnik, I. Ivanov, and others. Several works by Vladimir Karizna set to music are included in the “golden collection” of Belarusian national repertory. At the exhibition are displayed collected songs published between 1979 an s1998.
The exposition acquaints visitors with works by Lithuanian, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, and Georgian poets translated by Vladimir Karizna into Belarusian language, as well as publications that Vladimir Karizna edited, reviewed, and compelled.
