From 28 November to 31 December, an exhibition "Light of poetic gift" dedicated to the 100th anniversary from the date of the birth of A. Rusetsky (real name is Burdelyov) (1912–2000) in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is the anniversary.


The works of Alexei Rusetsky, Belarusian poet, translator, Belarusian honored feagure of culture, winner of A. Kuleshov Literary Prize, are a typical philosophical reflection on the role of poetry and science in human life. His poems are imbued with a sense of responsibility for the fate of the human world, they are full of genuine love for the country, a woman, mother nature. In the writer’s works the issues of the present are often interlaced with the history of his native land.

The first section "The Golden Collections of Poetry" of the exhibition presents the poet’s books. Among them there are Selected Works in 2 volumes (1982), collections of poetry U zavtrashny svet (At the Light of Tomorrow’s Day) (1951), Svyatlo okon tvoikh (The light of your windows) (1959), Uskhod i zakhad (East and west) (1962), Sluzba svyatla (Thework of the light) (1967), a collection released in 1969 in the series “The Library of the Belarusian Poetry”, etc. There are on display collections published in the 70-90s: Zyamlya gavoryts zoram (The earth tells stars) (1971), Dva kolery zhytstsya (Two colors of life) (1973), Pozіrk (The look) (1977), Paemy (Poems) (1979), Krokі sertsa (The steps of the heart) (1980), Na zlome lyosu (On the break of the fate) (1995), etc.

"The Friendship with the Earth and the Stars" is referred to as the section consisting of journals and joint collections that include works by Rusetsky. Among them there are a well-known poem Drugі pachatak (The other beginning) (1958), Yago vyalіkasts (His majesty) (1964), Manalog zyamlі (The monologue of the earth) (1969), Pole zhytstsya (The field of life) (1974), Aykumena (Aykumena) (1981), Khvala zhytstsyu (The praise to life) (1984).

The section "The Sincerity of the Line" presents the poet’s works translated into other languages: English, Russian, Georgian, Spanish, Latvian, Polish, French, etc.

Alexei Rusetsky is well known to be a gifted interpreter of works written by Belarusian, Ukrainian, Polish and Russian authors. His translations can be found in the section "The Precision of Thoughts and Moods".

The section "The Poet and His Characters” presents publications on the life and creative work of A. Rusetsky. Among the authors there are well-known Belarusian writers and critics R. Beryozkin, M. Streltsov, A. Loiko, A. Martinovich, V. Bechik, V. Gnilomyodov, M. Arochko, A. Bachilo, etc.

The exhibition demonstrates the poet’s photos.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
