In the Year of Hospitality we invite you to visit the exhibition "Belarus: hospitality without borders" and learn about the culture, traditions, legends and tourist facilities of our beautiful country.


The exhibition represents more than 100 new well illustrated encyclopedias, reference, popular scientific, advertising and informational editions, including manuals, booklets, photo albums. The thematic structure of the exhibition includes several sections.

The section "Country Belarus" contains encyclopedic and popular scientific editions, giving a general characteristic of the country and its population, the major historical milestones, the country’s unique landscapes.

Visitors of the exhibition have the opportunity to go "green" routes through Belarus together with famous photographer S. Plytkevich, A. Kleshchuk, I. Byshnev, D. Romanyuk whose works are placed in photo albums "Belarusian exotic", "Under the sky of Belarus", "Terra vita. Poozerie – the country of life", "The blue-eyed Belarus".

The books placed in the section "Distinctive heritage and cultural life" tell about the country with a unique culture, ancient and rich history; the country of castles and churches, Roman-Catholic churches, palaces and parks (reference, encyclopedic and scientific editions Arkhіtektura Belarusi (The Architect of Belarus), Scarby Belarusi (The Treasures of Belarus), Dukhovnoe nasledie. Minskie khramy (Spiritual Heritage. Minsk temples), etc. In Belarus, there are 150 museums and many art galleries. In the edition Muzeі Belarusi (The Museums of Belarus) you can learn about their types and thematic diversity, as well as their location can be found.

In the books Suchasnae narodnae mastatstva Bealarusi (The Modern People’s Art of Belarus), Belaruskae narodnae gancharstva (The Belarusian People’s Pottery), Belaruskae narodnaye mastatstva (The Belarusian People’s Art) by Doctor of Arts Y.M. Sakhuta tell about woodcarving, pottery, weaving, straw twinning which are very developed in the country.

To creating a good tourist infrastructure in Belarus has become today one of the priorities of the country. The country offers cultural and educational, religious, recreational, health tourism programs, as well as business services, water, sports and farm tourism. The section "Welcome to Belarus!" represents albums about Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Gomel, Brest and Grodno and reference books of the publishing house Riftur which can help to choose travel destinations.

Food traditions are one of the richest parts of the national culture. Each nation has its own cookbook with many great recipes. Culinary products made from natural rural products that are based on folk, sometimes forgotten, recipes, more in demand population. The last section "Bon appétit!" introduces readers to a number of time-proved recipes, most of which are illustrated.

The exhibition is designed to a wide range of the Library’s visitors and will be held on the 3rd floor in the circular corridor until 15 August, 2014.

On the website of the National Library of Belarus there has been created the section "The Year of Hospitality". In this section everyone can learn about the Decree № 573 "About declaring the year of 2014 as the Year of Hospitality", the Republican plan of activities for the Year of Hospitality, materials on the theme "Welcome to Belarus!", online resources related to this theme, as well as a slide show dedicated to the 78th World Ice Hockey Championship which has been held in Minsk from 9 May to 25 May, 2014.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
