From October 13, 2008, to November 25, 2008, in the Visual Materials Reading Room (room 307) is open an exhibition “A wanderer inspired by God” dedicated to 120th anniversary of Yazep Drozdovich, (1888-1954), one of the most outstanding representatives of Belarusian renaissance of the beginning of the XX-th century.
In the history of Belarusian culture he is known as an ethnographer, folklorist, archaeologist, and writer, one of the founders of national historical painting. The artist worked as well on graphics, book illustrations, sculptures, and art and crafts.
Yazep Drozdovich created graphic works series “The ancient building in Belarus”, drawings of Belarusian castles, and portraits of Polotsk and Smolensk nobles. The artist is a founder of a cosmic theme in Belarusian fine art. He created painting series “Life on Mars”, “Life on Saturn”, and “Life on the Moon”.
At the exhibition are displayed albums, books, articles, postcards, and reproductions of the works by the eminent Belarusian artist.
