We invite you to the reading room of the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Department (room 164) to the exhibition Motherland Begins with a Word from February 5 to February 28.

February 21 is the International Mother Language Day, declared by UNESCO on November 17, 1999. Its main goal is to preserve the world’s linguistic and cultural diversity, support national languages and cultures, and ensure the right of every citizen to use their native language.

In our multicolor and polyphonic world, there are more than six thousand languages. And each of them attracts with its own uniqueness. In order for a native language to develop, you need to study it, actively speak it, and expand the scope of its use. After all, a native language is the greatest treasure. Preserving the language means preserving the heritage of your people.

You will find books about the history of our melodic language; its evolution; books in the native language by both the classics of the Belarusian literature and modern authors; as well as textbooks that will help improve knowledge of the native language at the exhibition Motherland Begins with a Word.
