On September 20, the Book Professors’ Club welcomed the known Belarusian singer, musician and composer, Zmitser Vaytsiushkevich.
Zmitser Vaytsiushkevich is the author of song cycles based on the verses of the Belarusian poets and writers Uladzimir Karatkievich, Ryhor Baradulin, Hienadz Buraukin, Leanid Dranko-Maisiuk, Alies Kamotski and others. Also, he has prepared programs based on the foreign authors: Vladimir Mayakovsky, Rafal Wojaczek, Jaromir Nohavica, and Swedish and Japanese poets, translated into the Belarusian language. The recordings of Zmitser Vaytsiushkevich have been kept in the depository of electronic documents of the National Library of Belarus since 1998.
The National Library keeps a book about Zmitser, titled Belarusian Singing Word (in Belarusian: Беларускае слова ад спеву) (2010, 2018), and the author’s collection Simple Words (in Belarusian: Простыя словы) (2017). During the event, Zmitser signed his books and left an autograph to all the readers of the National Library.
At the meeting in the Book Professors’ Club, the children asked Zmitser a variety of questions from the place of books in the singer’s life to his high school records and hobby clubs. The guest gave honest answers.
Together with Zmitser, the kids and their parents sang the songs based on the Belarusian poets. At the end of the event, each attendee received an autograph from the famous guest.
