On September 24 Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Libraries and Museums in the Modern Educational and Sociocultural Environment: Preservation of Traditions and Development Prospects".
The event is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of library and information education in Belarus and the anniversary of the faculty of information and documentary communications of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.
The conference unites more than 100 librarians and museum specialists from foreign countries (Belarus, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, USA, etc.). Within three days, the participants will discuss a range of problems in the field of modern library information and museum education, the practical activities of libraries and museums.
At the plenary session the Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky made a presentation entitled "Modern Requirements for Librarians, or Vanessa Mae and Librarianship". As the British violinist "refreshed" the image of a classical musician in the eyes of the audience, so a modern librarian should modernize his appearance and change the format of communication with readers.
At the end of his speech, the director thanked the BSUCA staff for their personal contribution to the training and professional development of the library staff of the Republic of Belarus and handed letters of honor to the university teachers on behalf of the National Library.
