The "Labirynth" gallery held concert-lecture "Towards the 21st century" from the series "Walking through the Centuries" on 14th January.
The most notable and brilliant chapters of the musical life of the second half of the 20th century were covered in two sections. There were performances of pieces by academic composers D. Shostakovich and A. Schnittke, as well as composers for movies and so-called "light music" like A. Piazzolla and E. Morricone.
The audience was introduced to popular compositions by Belarusian composers E. Glebov and V. Soltan (a more detailed idea of the work of composers can be obtained by visiting the exhibition "Vladimir Soltan’s Thoughts and Moods" and looking into the electronic collection of the library "Masters of Belarusian Culture. Evgeny Glebov").
Presenter and lecturer Margarita Rudkevich exposed the audience to a variety of twentieth-century musical stylistic movements, including aleatorics, minimalism, and sonoristics.
We look forward to seeing everyone on 11 February at 3.00 pm at the upcoming concert, "Music of our Time", where attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the works of J. Williams, K. Yaskov, and N. Khrushchev as well as music from the twenty-first century in relation to other forms of art.
