On July 25, the National Library hosted a press conference during which the "diamond of knowledge" received as a gift 3 sets of books and 5 certificates for using the Savings Bank’s e-Book collection.
Chairman of the Board of JSC BPS-Sberbank Igor Merkulov presented the Sberbank Library, the corporate e-Book collection, which is a unique project of the International Sberbank Group.
Every year the financial organization publishes 12 books by foreign authors, and today it has 81 books, which are united by the idea to help you to adjust yourself to self-improvement and disclosure of internal potential. The collection was started with Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People, which, in 2011, was named by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential books ever written about business. The publications donated to the library are the quintessence of simple rules and laws of behavior and formation of character, business and relationships with relatives and colleagues, which deserve to be used and developed.
“All the world's practical business experience is collected in our corporate reading room. This business literature is a storehouse of innovative solutions for both bank officers and a wide range of readers who are open to a new view on familiar things. We sincerely believe that the main value of books is their ability to change a person's life, filling it with fresh ideas and meaning," the head of the Bank said. He also suggested reading Winning through Innovation: A Practical Guide to Leading Organizational Change and Renewal by Michael Tushman and Charles O’Reilly, stressing that the ability to learn, even by trial and error, is an important factor of innovation development.
Accepting the gift, the first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus, Elena Dolgopolova, said: "Today, the Sberbank Library has found a new home! Bibliographic data of the publications are going to be presented in the electronic catalog of the National Library of Belarus and the Consolidated Electronic Catalog of Belarusian Libraries. Readers will have the ability to get acquainted directly with the publications at the exhibition of new acquisitions, and in the future everyone will be able to get them for more in-depth study in reading rooms. These publications will be useful to a wide range of users, who are interested in books on leadership, personal development, management and modern technologies. "
At the end of the event, Elena Dolgopolova presented a library card to Igor Merkulov, thanking BPS-Sberbank for a generous gift and expressing hope for further fruitful cooperation and expansion of interaction in the sphere of culture.
Also the head of the Bank made a tour to the library and got acquainted with its history and architectural features.
