The grand ceremony of laying flowers to the memorial of the people’s poet of Belarus Yanka Kupala was held on the 140th-years anniversary since the date of his birth, on June 7th in the Yanka Kupala park.

The grand event was visited by representatives of the President’s Office of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information, the Minsk City Executive Committee, ancestors of Yanka Kupala, representatives of the Belarus Writers’ Union, the Belarus Artists’ Union, Belarussian Cultural Fond and the National Library of Belarus.

The National Library of Belarus has prepared a literature and art exhibition project “The Songwriters of the Belarusian Land,” dedicated to the 140th-years anniversary since the birth date of the Belarussian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. An artistic legacy of the word artists is presented by lifetime editions, illustrations and works, personal belongings and poets’ documents. The exposition runs either in the Book Museum until August 31st and in the “Mobile” Gallery (third floor) of the National Library of Belarus until December 25th.

We remember the great heroic deed

On May 7, on the eve of Victory Day, the staff of the National Library of Belarus laid flowers at the monument "Grieving Mother" in the Chelyuskintsev Park of Culture and Recreation. During the war of 1941-1943, thousands of dead soldiers, shot residents, as well as those who died during the difficult war years from hunger and disease found their last refuge here in mass graves.
