The National Library of Belarus hosted the grand opening of the literary and art exhibition "Poets of the Belarussian land", dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth date of Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas, on June 23rd at the mobile gallery on the 3rd floor.
The creative heritage of artists of the word is represented by publications, original illustrations to the works of writers, personal belongings and documents of poets. Funds of the National Library of Belarus, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, the Yakub Kolas State Literary and Memorial Museum and the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum are involved in creating the exhibition.
The exhibition includes lifetime editions of Kupala and Kolas, the most interesting of which are the first in Belarus personal encyclopedia "Slounik movy Yanki Kupala" [Yanka Kupala’s language vocabulary], "Tlumachalny slounik admetnai lexiki y tvorakh Yakub Kolas" [Explanatory dictionary of distinctive vocabulary in the works of Yakub Kolas], publications with autographs and beautifully designed covers.
The figures of writers are presented not only through the prism of best-selling poems of the Soviet era, but also through illustrations to the works of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas by famous Belarusian artists Heorgi Paplauski, Barys Zaborau, Vasil Sharangovich. Manuscripts with autographs of writers, their personal belongings, certificates of awards and other interesting exhibits give a special atmosphere to the exhibition.
The contribution of writers to the formation of the literary language, the development of fiction, and national culture is enormous. The authors focus on the Motherland. Every plot and image sounds about her and for her. Masters of the native language, pride of the nation, Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas, like real poets-prophets, poets of the Belarusian land, each managed to tell the world in their own way about Belarus, the character and creative universe of Belarusians, the extraordinary power and power of the Belarusian word.
The exhibition will run until December 31st, 2022.
