On 8–12 February, a large-scale exhibition "The CIS cultural heritage" was shown at the 19th Minsk International Book Fair.


The exposition was organized by the Russian Book Union with the support of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund which represents interests of the CIS member-states.

Minsk became the last place where this mobile book exhibition occurred. It was timed to the Year dedicated to both historical and cultural heritage and the 20th anniversary of the CIS establishment. This exposition, which includes the best books of the Commonwealth, has already visited Moscow, Baku, Yerevan, Kiev and it was appreciated by book lovers everywhere.

Many publishing houses from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine gave their editions to this exhibition.

It consists of three sections: books on history and culture of the Commonwealth; publications on folk art and decorative and applied art; literature masterpieces of the CIS member-states.

A multi-volume collection "Klasika literatur SNG" (Classical literature of the CIS member-states) attracted special attention. The edition is published with the support of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund. 24 volumes were released from this series. Their themes are folklore and literary monuments of the Commonwealth, and also a Russian-English volume – the first edition – which contains the best literary works of different nations from the Commonwealth.

Traditionally a part of this mobile book exhibition "The CIS cultural heritage" was presented to the National Library of Belarus on 12 February, 2012 and became wonderful gift for its 90th anniversary from the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund and the Russian Book Union. These 600 editions will add both the collection of the main Belarusian information center and the funds of other libraries in this country.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
