On 21 September, the Business and cultural complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation hosted a celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing.

At the anniversary event the director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky donated the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, the Russian libraries and information institutions.

The heads and representatives of Russian libraries expressed gratitude to the Bank BelVEB and the National Library of Belarus which are the initiators and main implementers of the international publishing project. Within five years allocated for its implementation (2013–2017), the library and the bank used their full potential so that the anniversary gift in the form of a multi-volume facsimile was prepared on time. Thanks to their joint efforts and close partnership, on the 500th jubilee of the Belarusian book-printing the heritage of Francysk Skaryna appeared in a single collection of facsimile editions (21 volumes) to become the core of anniversary events that took place all over the world.

The celebration was continued by a performance "Skaryna" with the actors of the Mogilev Regional Drama Theater. The drama about the life of the Belarusian enlightener and printing pioneer was staged and written by the director Saulius Varnas (co-authored with the Belarusian playwright Nikolai Rudkovsky). The theatrical performance reflected the spiritual feat of this amazing person, an outstanding son of the Belarusian land who was ahead of the time and made a huge contribution to the development of both Belarusian and world culture.
