On September 19, within the framework of a working visit, the chiefs of staff of the Security Council of the Russian Federation visited the National Library.


Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky held a tour for the guests of honor, acquainting them with the library building and with the history, architectural features and information resources of the institution. The tour participants visited the Round Hall, exhibition galleries, and also the observation deck, where they could enjoy a panoramic view of the capital of Belarus.

The most interesting part of the excursion was an acquaintance with the international exhibition "Francysk Skaryna and his epoch", dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian printing. For the first time in Belarus, the most valuable book monuments from the collections of the National Library of Belarus, the libraries of Russia, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Latvia and Romania are presented in one exhibition venue. The honorable guests were especially impressed by the original editions of the Belarusian first printer Francysk Skaryna, printed in Prague and Vilna in 1517–1525.

At the end of the meeting, Roman Motulsky presented memorable gifts to the guests.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
