The 2nd Republican amateur art festival of librarians “Makeover”, dedicated to the Libraries Day, was held in the National Library of Belarus on September 15.


The Belarusian Library Association and the National Library of Belarus organized the event.

The BLA chairman and the First Deputy Director of the National Library for User Service and Ideology Alena Dalgapolava congratulated colleagues on their professional holiday and presented certificates for fruitful work and great personal contribution to the work of the Belarusian Library Association to Tacciana Šved, for personal initiative and implementation of innovative library projects to Nastassia Žarskaja, Volha Vovk, Viktoryja Chomič.

Workers of libraries appeared in the unusual roles: they performed songs, dances, recited poems. Guests enjoyed various performances of their colleagues.

The librarian of the 1st category of the National Library Kaciaryna Haroška presented a wonderful song. The associate professor, PhD of the Belarusian National Technical University Iryna Stralkova with the host of the festival, worker of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Art Pavel Makeeǔ performed a song in duet.

The leading librarian of the Fundamental Library of the BSU and talented poetess Valiancina Truškievič presented her new poem.

The head of the children library No. 6 Tamara Patuk also sang a song. The librarian of the Central scientific library named after Jakub Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Kaciaryna Prakapčuk presented a song about mothers.

The bibliographer of the 1st category of the President’s library Volha Žuromskaja presented a performance dedicated to teachers. The leading librarian of the President’s library Veranika Metrakova performed a jazz waltz of Yuri Vesniak and the etude of Carl Czerny. The librarian of the 1st category of the children library No. Alesia Ćitkova performed an orient dance.

The head of the Cultural Work Section of the Cultural Events Department Natallia Žyvalkoǔskaja performed famous songs and was warmly met by the colleagues.

The culmination of the festival was the performance of Aliaksandar Saladucha, that filled hearts of listeners with positive emotions.

The festival, which was held in a warm and cozy atmosphere, pleasantly surprised and pleased, because our everyday life lacks a holiday. And this day was truly a success, because colleagues have seen each other in a completely different role.

The participants of the celebration were awarded diplomas and gifts.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
