On September 15, 2009, a celebration of the Library Day was held in National Library of Belarus.
The holiday began with an event which took place next to Frantsisk Skaryna monument on the square before National Library of Belarus.
Representatives of governmental bodies, library and cultural administrations and librarians from different regions of Belarus participated in the event. Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus V.I. Kurash, chairman of Minsk city committee of cultural workers trade union G.V.Molchan, director of Fundamental Library of Belarusian State University P.M. Lapo, and R.S.Motulsky, director of National Library of Belarus congratulated visitors on the holiday. Pupils of Minsk choreographic schools performed dances.
Opening of a photo exhibition “Bibliomagic”, a joint project of National Library of Belarus and Belarusian Library Association was timed to the Day of Libraries. The exhibition summarized the results of a contest among Belarusian librarians. A competent jury chose the best work in different nominations. At the opening of the exhibition winners of the photo contest received diplomas and prizes.
