An event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Adam Babareko (10/14/1899-10/10/1938) was held on October 15.

A talented poet, prose writer, literary critic, one of the organizers of the literary associations Maladnyak and Uzvyshsha is the next hero of a joint project of the National Library of Belarus, the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts and the Zvyazda Publishing House.

Director of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature Mikhail Rybakov and deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Alies Susha opened the event. They noted the value of the joint project for the promotion of the national culture and literature of Belarus. Editor-in-chief of the Maladost magazine Svetlana Votinova spoke about an article published in the journal on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Adam Babareko.

The event was attended by researchers of the writer's heritage. Director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Arts Anna Zapartyka spoke about Adam Babareko’s private book collection and its return to Belarus, as well as the scientific research carried out by the archive-museum to study his heritage. Archivist Viktor Zhibul talked about the Collected Works of Adam Babareko (2011, Vilnius), published with his direct participation.

Tatyana Lavrik, the leading bibliographer of the National Library, presented the online section“Adam Antonovich Babareko” as part of the project“On the Waves of Time throughout Life,” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the creation of the All-Belarusian literary association of poets and writers “Maladnyak.”

Dmitry Davidovsky, the leading librarian of the National Library, spoke about the friendship of Adam Babareko and Vladimir Dubovka and the correspondence between the writers.

Events dedicated to the anniversary of Adam Babareko will continue with a series of lectures by writer and teacher Anna Severinets and archivist and literary critic Viktor Zhibul.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
