A solemn cancellation of the block of stamps dedicated to the 525th birth anniversary of Francysk Skaryna will take place within the bounds of the XI International book lectures “Book culture of Belarus of the XІ – early XX centuries”.


Postal stamps dedicated to the Belarusian and East Slavic first printer has an old tradition. It is symbolical that the presentation of this new postal project will take place in the National Library of Belarus which is the only in Belarus keeper of Francysk Skaryna’s books.

Belarusian postal stamps have a distinct national orientation reflecting the basic aspects of the development of our state. These artistic miniatures represent the crucial events in the history and culture of Belarus. The postal production devoted to the 525th birth anniversary of Francysk Skaryna will be certainly a nice gift to Belarusian and foreign philatelists and, at the same time, will promote the book culture of Belarus.

The first day cancellation is a very special event in the world of philately. We invite you to visit the solemn ceremony which will take place on April 16th, at 11.30 a.m. in the atrium (on the 2nd floor).

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
