A book donation ceremony was held in the city of Fribourg (Switzerland), on June 13. The Gutenberg Museum received as a gift the facsimile editions of the Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna and the Primer (1618).
The Director of the National Library of Belarus, Roman Motulsky, made a presentation on the “diamond of knowledge”, overviewed the history of book-printing in Belarus and emphasized the importance of cultural events promoting friendly relations between Belarus and Switzerland.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, regional and federal organizations, and museum staff.
Roman Motulsky discussed the prospects for cooperation with the director of the Gutenberg Museum, Stefan Ledergerber.
The visit was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Swiss Confederation.
Bank BelVEB became a partner in the facsimile reproduction of Francis Skaryna’s books. The facsimile of the world's first "Primer" was published with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Belarusian Bank for Development and Reconstruction Belinvestbank.
