The facsimile edition of Francysk Skaryna’s books became the basis for numerous events dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing both in Belarus and abroad.
During 2017−2018 scientific and cultural events took place in a number of countries of the world, becoming the most important event in the international intercultural relations of our country. In 2019 the facsimile continues to enlarge the funds of foreign institutions of culture and education.
Western universities and colleges show great interest in publishing. The publication are particularly valuable for students specializing in Slavic, Russian and Belarusian philology. The facsimile edition has already enlarged the collection of the Swiss Library of Eastern Europe SOB, which is the largest Swiss library on the history and modernity of Eastern Europe.
On June 12, 2019 in the Zurich Library, the largest scientific library in the field of Slavic, a solemn event dedicated to the Belarusian book-printing, as well as the donation of facsimile editions of the Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna and the first-book called “Primer” (1618) were held.
Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, gave a welcoming speech and made a presentation about the Belarusian book-printing and the National Library of Belarus. As he reported, such will serve to further advance of Belarusian-Swiss cooperation in the field of culture and will contribute to the formation of a positive image of the Republic of Belarus in the Swiss Confederation.
At the end of the event, a bilateral meeting was held with the administration of the Zurich Library of Slavic Studies, where further interaction between institutions and promising projects were discussed.
The visit took place due to the organizational support of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Swiss Confederation.
Bank BelVEB became a partner in the facsimile reproduction of Francysk Skaryna’s books. The facsimile of the world's first "Primer" was published with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Belarusian Bank for Development and Reconstruction Belinvestbank.
Tomorrow, on June 13, they will made a presentation in the Gutenberg Museum in Fribourg.
