A book exhibition timed to the 95th anniversary of the birth of people's writer of Belarus Vasil Bykov runs in the Belarusian literature reading room (205), from June 14 to August 8.

Vasil (Vasily Vladimirovich) Bykov (1924–2003) had twice survived the events of the Great Patriotic War: directly at the front and through his immortal works. The military prose of Vasil Bykov is that of courage and truth. The writer witnessed the betrayal and a real feat, cowardice and self-sacrifice for the other, and the daily heroism of the common man. The harsh truth in the portraying of war, attention to the thoughts and feelings of the person, humanity and high demands in the statement of moral principles, conciseness, accuracy and clarity of the narrative style are the main features of Vasil Bykov’s prose.

The offered exhibition consists of four thematic sections, which acquaint the visitors with the writer’s life and creative way. "The Ordeal" ("Сотнікаў"), "The Alpine Ballad" ("Альпійская балада"), "The Obelisk" ("Абеліск"), "Wolf Pack" ("Воўчая зграя"), "To Go and not Return" ("Пайсці і не вярнуцца"), "Sign of Misfortune" ("Знак бяды"), "In the Fog" ("У тумане"), "The Wall" ("Сцяна") and other works are on display.

The translations of Vasil Bykov’s works into the Russian, Ukrainian, German, English, Polish and other languages are presented in a separate section.

More than 120 publications are on display.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by library card or by ticket of the library's social and cultural center. Information and tickets may be obtained at the registration desk.
