On May 27th, the library of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorki hosted a science and educational seminar “Rare and valuable book funds as the basis to the historical memory preservation”.


Participants of the seminar considered the questions of formation of public policy in the field of book monuments, their registration, safekeeping and rational use, personnel management in Belarusian university libraries keeping book monuments.

The seminar gathered heads and specialists of Belarusian university libraries, regional libraries, the National Library of Belarus and the Belarusian Agricultural Library named after I.S. Lupinovich.

Head of the Library funds administration of the Russian State Library Irina Tikunova (Russia, Moscow), general manger of the Nazarbaev University Library Piotr Lapo (Kazakhstan, Astana), and Assoc. Prof. of the chair of information technologies of the Republican Institute of Innovative Technologies at the Belarusian National Technical University Irina Strelkova (Belarus, Minsk) presented their reports online.

At the seminar head of the Bibliology department of the National Library of Belarus Galina Kireeva read a report on the development of the State register of book monuments of the Republic of Belarus.
