On May 29th, the National Library hosted the opening of the exhibition of works of art performed by students of the honored amateur team of Belarus “The fine arts peoples’ studio” of the Center of additional education of children and young adults “ART”.
The art studio is headed by known Belarusian artist Rishard Mai. The event is timed to the Child Protection Day.
Sincerity, spontaneity, a congenital feeling of the harmony, no interdictions or customary graphic techniques and the atmosphere of an absolute creative freedom – those are the principles of Rishard Mai’s unique studio where young pupils comprehend fine arts. Under his direction young artists do not learn common skills, but discover them anew by solving creative tasks. The pleasure from such discoveries is incomparable with anything else giving children the sensation of independence, strengthening the confidence of their forces and abilities. The art studio accepts kids aged from two years old, and by 7-12 years old they start to create wonderful things! Children's works of art can not only compete to "mature" painting, but often they surpass it regarding contents or the graphic form, expressiveness or a spectrum of techniques.
The art studio was founded in 1978, and later on it got the ranks of “the people’ studio” and “honored”; artistic circles started to discuss “the phenomenon of Rishard Mai’s art studio”. Paintings of students participated in numerous exhibitions and won in international contests in Angola, Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Israel, India, Macedonia, New Guinea, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Taiwan, Finland, France, Czechia, Japan and Madagascar.
The art exhibition timed to the Child Protection Day presents about 40 bright, cheerful and sincere pictures created by young artists-attendees of the art studio. At the opening ceremony students of Rishard Mai’s studio received diplomas of honor.
