On October 21 – 22, 2008, in Moscow took place the third Forum of union programs projects “Programs of the Union State: aims and prospects”. A representative delegation from Belarus, took part in the Forum. Roman Motulsky, the Director of National Library of Belarus, was among the members of the delegation.
Heads of the biggest state industries and scientific centers, businessmen, and representatives of state administration of Belarus and Russia participated in the Forum.
P.P. Borodin, the Secretary of the union State, V.P. Nikitin, the Executive Secretary of the Union of Russia and Belarus Parliament, and P.A. Vityaz, the Deputy Chairman of National Academy of Sciences made their welcoming speeches.
The aim of the Forum was the revealing of the most urgent social and economic issues and new subject union programs which total today about 80% of its budget and have a significant influence upon development and consolidation of the union of Russia and Belarus.
During the event were discussed the following union programs:
- achievements of the first step of the program SKIF-GRID;
- modern and forecasting angles of the consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe and strategies of life protection;
- development and implementation of joint pilot projects of rehabilitation of agricultural areas affected by radioactive contamination;
- use of forests in areas affected by radioactive contamination;
- plasma processes and technologies;
- activities on further rapprochement of law in social and labor field and social guaranties of citizens of Belarus and Russia.
During the Forum were examined programs on the development in the field of space and information technologies, food industry, radioactive security, pharmaceutics, nanotechnologies, telecommunications, and agriculture. At the Forum were read and discussed 25 reports and presentations.
R.S. Motulsky, the Director of National Library of Belarus, presented a project “Treasures of Slavonic culture”. The aim of the project is joint development and use of an electronic book collection revealing cultural and historical bonds of Russian and Belarusian peoples. This project may be part of State programs “Memory of Belarus” and “Memory of Russia” (which are part of an international program “Memory of the World”) and conforms to programs “Electronic Belarus”, “Electronic Russia”, and the UNESCO program “Information for all”. Besides that, this project is part of a program of the development of European digital library and the World digital library.
The program “Treasures of Slavonic culture” was approved by organizers and participants of the Forum.
