On 19 November, at 5 p.m., a presentation of the literary and educational project “1812. Known and unknown” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the war of 1812 will take place in the gallery “Rakurs”.


There will be carried out a presentation of the trilogy Zapadny pogranichny region v voenno-strategicheskikh planakh Rossiyskoy imperii (konets ХVIII v − 1812 g) (The Western frontier region in the military-strategic plans of the Russian Empire (the end of the 18th century − 1812)) at the event. This edition has been made by Andrei Lutsevich, an associate professor of the Belarusian State University, for 15 years of his research study. These books are based on a wide range of written materials and images (formerly secret), both published are stored in 10 archives of Belarus, Lithuania, Poland and Russia.

There will also be held the opening of the republican exhibition of children paintings dedicated to the war of 1812. The exhibition is included in the program of the literary educational project. The exposition contains the works of learners from 6 art studios, presenting Gomel, Minsk and Brest. The exhibition will be opened by artist and teacher Vitaly Chernobrisov.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
