On November 18th, representatives of the National Library of Belarus took part in the museum lecture “The memory of ancestors through the museum world”.


The event was prepared by the Ministry of Culture of Belarus and the Belarusian State Museum of People’s Architecture and Life. The lecture was held at the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War.

Yuri Tsykal, deputy director for development of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War and Eduard Bogdanovich, director of the Belarusian State Museum of People’s Architecture and Life made welcoming speeches.

The event gathered researchers and specialists of the Belarusian State Museum of People’s Architecture and Life, the National Library of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature, and the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The museum activities of the National Library of Belarus were represented by head of the museum activity section Tatiana Zakharova and head of the research and project section Tatiana Sapega who read their reports.

Within the bounds of the museum lectures, the special project of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War “Muses calling to remember” was presented, and participants of the event made an excursion to the museum.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
