On November 9th, a roundtable “Interaction of Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus for creation of national information resources” was held.
The roundtable was held by Y. Kolas Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in cooperation with the National Library of Belarus.
The event gathered 34 participants: employees of Y. Kolas Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (scientific-bibliographic division, electronic resources division, software and hardware division, library science division), employees of the National Library of Belarus (bibliographic division, national databases of authoritative records division, library and information technologies division, document indexing division), and also representatives of the library at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.
The roundtable participants considered databases generated by these libraries and possibilities of corporate cooperation for database development. After the roundtable meeting participants adopted a resolution.

Interaction of Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus for creation of national information resources”

1. Consideration of methods of creation of factographic and bibliographic databases by the National Library of Belarus and Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will promote optimization of the library segment of national information resources.
2. It is necessary to carry on consultations between experts of Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus concerning cooperation in the field of national information resources development, including regarding teamwork on formation of factigraphic databases “Belarusian science in persons” (Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus ) and “Scientists of Belarus” (the National Library of Belarus); bibliographic databases “Ecology and nature management in Belarus” (Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus) and “Belarus: from the past to the present” (the National Library of Belarus).
3. For a deeper study of methods of database development at Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus it is necessary to carry out an exchange of corresponding methodical documents.
4. When exchanging information files and representing them in generated databases participants of joint projects should provide correct references to authorship of a resource.
5. The databases generated by Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus have a good substantial and service level and can be represented in the Virtual Reading Room of the National Library of Belarus and be popularized by other means.
6. More detailed discussion of corporate cooperation between Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus in the field of the development of the database “Scientists of Belarus” is to be continued at a special seminar in December, 2010 at Central Scientific Library at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
