On 7 February, within the framework of ХХ Minsk international book fair, “Books of Belarus – 2013”, a fair of investment projects of the National Library of Belarus took place.
A presentation of unique facsimile editions of the National Library of Belarus was held on the National stand of Belarus.
Projects of 2012 for which the Library staff received the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus to cultural and art workers, as well as an award in special nomination “For a contribution to the preservation of spiritual heritage” during the National contest “The Art of Book – 2013” were presented at the fair:
- ”Букварь языка славянского“ / “The Slavic Language Abc-Book” (Vilna, 1767) – in cooperation with the XEROX representatives in the Republic of Belarus;
- ”Сымон-музыка“ / “Symon the Musician” (1925) by Y. Kolas – in cooperation with the publishing house “Mastatskaja litaratura”;
- ”Шляхам жыцця“ / “On the Way of Life” (1913) by Y. Kupala – in cooperation with the publishing house “Mastatskaja litaratura”;
- “Гісторыя беларускай (крыўскай) кнігі” / “The History of the Belarusian Book” (1926) by V. Lastovsky – in cooperation with the publishing house “Mastatskaja litaratura”;
- ”Калядная пісанка“ / “The Christmas Pysanka” (1913) – in cooperation with the Bank BelVEB Company;
- ”Житие Евфросинии Полоцкой“ / “The Life of Euphrosyne of Polotsk” (15th–16th centuries) – in cooperation with the Belarusian Exarchate Publishing House;
All speakers emphasized that the introduction of the brightest monuments of Belarusian book culture by means of their facsimile reprinting would allow to solve the numerous problems connected with promotion of national book heritage, activation of bibliological researches in the country, maintenance of safety of originals by means of free access to their high-quality copies.
Within the limits of the presentation Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for science and publishing Alexander Susha presented the Register of investment projects on facsimile edition of monuments of the book culture of Belarus which would allow to continue this work in the further.
During the presentation Pavel Kozich, the student of Minsk Children’s Musical School № 13, performed songs.
