In the context of common European and national history a lecture on tendencies and features of the development of book culture in Belarus in the 11th – 20th centuries was held on February 25 in the conference hall.
The event was timed to the issue of the publication on the history of Belarussian libraries from 1917 to 1991 («Библиотеки Беларуси. Из прошлого в будущее. 1917–1991»).
The book presents the data gathered in the study and tabulated, which allows to see the overall picture of the development of librarianship and publishing in the BSSR. The book is intended for librarians, students of special and higher educational institutions for humanities and anyone interested in the problems of cultural development of the country.
At the lecture, the Director of the National Library of Belarus, Doctor of Education, Professor Roman Motulsky told the audience about the conditions for the formation of the Belarusian book culture, highlighted the spaces in its history and stressed that the modern world requires Belarus to form cultural immunity with the basis in its history, the origins of which keeps our rich book heritage.
